The LD1117A is UTC's version of the industry standard 1117 regulator manufactured by at least ten different manufacturers. It's a low dropout, 3-terminal, positive voltage regulator designed to provide output current up to 1A.
It comes in a wide range of voltages and package styles including SOT223 and SOT252, and is very low cost.
It's good all round performance with internal short circuit and thermal protection make it the first part to look at to see if it meets your regulation needs.
