Resolute Audio’s RAECM module provides a development platform for low-cost, quick and easy integration of AES70 into your next product.

Features include 16 user-assignable GPIO including 2 ADC inputs as well as interfaces for SPI, UART, I2C and on board PHY for ethernet connectivity.

Features

  • AES70 device model and user control interface solution
  • Control and monitoring
  • 16 user-assignable GPIO including 2 ADC inputs
  • SPI, UART, I2C interfaces
  • Onboard webserver with responsive user controls

Applications

  • Networked powered speakers
  • Power amplifiers
  • Effects gear
  • Audio Channel Switcher
  • Digital Volume Control

Interoperability

AES70 lays the foundation for a multitude of new control apps for monitoring, automation and workflow improvements, and expands the reach of current apps, thereby adding value to AES70 compliant hardware products.

Joining the AES70 eco-system means that your new product can be part of a wider multi-manufacturer control and monitoring system. For instance a product from vendor A might be making changes to microphone pre-amplifier settings while a product from vendor B switches between stereo audio channels. AES70 settings from both vendors are available to edit in one place.

RAECMSVC Audio Channel Switcher and Digital Volume Carrier

RAECMSVC

The RAECMSVC is a carrier board designed to host the RAECM module and demonstrate the capabilities of AES70. The carrier features an stereo audio channel switcher and digital volume control. In addition, it has 2 buttons, 2 DIP switches, digital encoder, potentiomenter, 3 LEDs and interfaces for SPI, UART, I2C and on board PHY for ethernet connectivity.

Power is provided using the micro-USB port or external power supply. Audio rails are generting using the onboard RADCBXX bipolar power supply. A programming header is provided for the STM processor.

Onboard Webserver Interface

The RAECM features a dedicated webserver interface for control and monitoring of your products inputs and outputs. For network systems with larger numbers of AES70 devices a single unified control system can be implemented to view all or a selection of inputs and outputs from many AES70 devices. Contact us for more details.

The AES70explorer tool from DEUSO is able to discover all AES70 compatible devices on a network and interrogate all inputs and outputs available on each device.

SIMPLE Design Steps

The first step in the design process is to specify how the 16 GPIOs and interfaces on the RAECM module are to be utilised:

In the case of an existing powered speaker design, the RAECM module could be added to the latest revision to receive feedback from the power amplifier. For example, the ICEpower200AS2 dual channel power amplifier can report two channel temperatures, thermal shutdown and overcurrent states.

Once a specification is established, Resolute Audio can configure the RAECM module and produce the module pre-programmed ready for use.

For smaller systems a dedicated onboard webserver interface can be provided while for larger systems with many devices it may be practical to use a unified-control system.

Inputs and outputs you have specified are now visible to the AES70 eco-system.
